Estonia Lake 1 - Excellent

Purgatsi Lake bathing site is located in Aegviidu village, Harju County. The site has a sandy bottom with a wooden swimming and boat dock covering most of the bathing area. The sandy beach is approximately 50 metres long but relatively narrow at up to 3 metres wide. The site can accommodate up to 150 visitors during peak season on warm, sunny days and during events at the adjacent recreation centre.

Water

Lake (Purgatsi järv). Maximum depth: 1.80 metres. Average depth: 0.90 to 1.50 metres. Shoreline length at bathing site: 200 metres.

Location

Aegviidu village, Harju County. Access is primarily through the territory of a nearby recreation centre. Parking is available approximately 100 metres from the shore; vehicles are not permitted to drive directly to the shore.

Facilities

Two changing cabins, several benches, waste bins. No lifeguard service, no first aid service, no information provided about water temperature, quality, or air temperature.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as 'very good' for years 2010–2014. All 30 samples taken between 2010–2014 met microbiological standards for Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci as specified in regulation 74 of 3 April 2008.
