Municipality of Valpaços. Coordinates: 41.632°N, 7.24716°W. Ordered parking and easy beach access available.

Water Quality

Water quality classification follows Decreto-Lei 135/2009 of June 3rd, amended by Decreto-Lei 113/2012 of May 23rd. Sampling frequency: every 2 weeks. In the 2024 bathing season, bathing was advised against or prohibited for 4 days due to short-term pollution events. Potential microbiological pollution sources include faecal contamination from untreated clandestine discharges, microbiological load from precipitation, or failure of sanitation infrastructure upstream.

Risks

Short-term pollution events (lasting less than 72 hours) are unlikely but can occur from untreated clandestine discharges or precipitation causing microbiological load into the river and upstream waterways. Cyanobacteria, macroalgae, and phytoplankton proliferation are all unlikely.
