Río Casal in Entrimo is a river bathing area located in Galicia, Spain, part of the Baixa Limia-Serra do Xurés Natural Park. The bathing zone consists of three artificial pools created by dams on the river, separated by barriers that are closed during the swimming season to accumulate water. The riverbed is characterized by rocky substrate of granitic composition with abundant stones and boulders, surrounded by mixed vegetation including oak and pine trees.

Water

River (Río Casal) in the Miño-Sil hydrographic district, Limia sub-basin. Single, nearly straight river channel with elevated presence of stones and boulders. Rocky substrate of granitic composition. Mean annual flow varies by month, with environmental flow rate of 0.088 m³/s and four-year return period flow of 17 m³/s. The bathing zone altitude is 519 meters.

Location

Entrimo, Ourense Province, Galicia, Spain. Access via OU-1212 road from Casal towards Terrachá, then right onto Avenida de Santa María a Leal. A right turn appears after approximately 200 meters marked with directional signs to the bathing area (As Perdices). The beach is located 3 kilometers along this path near an informational sign for Valle de Xurés and a bridge. Parking is available.

Water Quality

Water quality monitoring conducted from 2011 to 2015 according to Royal Decree 1341/2007. Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci concentrations measured in NMP/100 ml. Possible contamination episodes may occur when river flow falls below 0.0022 m³/s. Short-duration contamination risks identified include runoff from agricultural areas, bather autocontamination during high visitor numbers, accidental or illegal discharges, dead animals, organic waste, and sediment/sludge disturbance.
