La Playeta is a bathing area located on the Júcar River near Alcalá del Júcar in Albacete, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain. The site is situated at an altitude of 515 metres in a naturally preserved section of the river featuring a meandering single-channel watercourse. The riverbed consists of siliceous material including gravels, sands, and silts, with valley margins composed of calcareous rocky substrate. Native riparian vegetation including poplars, willows, and plane trees borders the area.

Water

The Júcar River at this location is a naturally preserved, single-channel meandering river. The minimum proposed flow rate in ordinary conditions is 1.47 m³/s. The four-year return period flow rate is 66 m³/s. The riverbed consists of exposed medium-grade sand and siliceous material. The catchment area upstream is 9,156.45 km² with a perimeter of 866.95 kilometres.

Location

The bathing area is located on the outskirts of Alcalá del Júcar. Access is via the CM-3201 road, crossing the Júcar River; the bathing zone is approximately 200 metres beyond the river crossing. Parking is available at the site.

Bathing water quality classification follows Royal Decree 1341/2007 criteria and can be consulted at http://nayadeciudadano.sanidad.gob.es/. Microbiological contamination risks from faecal sources have been identified, including significant pressure from sewage systems serving 626 and 187 inhabitants respectively from nearby settlements. Livestock in the influence area includes 3,500 sheep, 462 goats, and 10 pigs.
