Miño River, a monomictic siliceous river of the main river network. The riverbed consists of silts and stones with a lateral rock barrier on one bank. Mean flows: January-March 74.449 m³/s, April-June 54.004 m³/s, July-September 38.445 m³/s, October-December 55.414 m³/s. Three-year return period flow: 3139.2 m³/s.

Castrelo de Miño municipality, province of Ourense, Galicia, Spain. The bathing area is located at the Nautical Club of Castrelo de Miño, approximately 300 meters from Barral. Access is via the OU-402 road (Ourense-Cortegada). Parking is available.

Water Quality

Water quality classification based on 2011-2015 monitoring data. The underlying water body (Castrelo Reservoir, code ES011473010) has good or better status. Microbiological monitoring tracked intestinal enterococci and Escherichia coli concentrations against Real Decreto 1341/2007 limits for sufficient quality bathing waters.

Risks

Multiple point-source pollution discharges identified upstream, including sanitation systems from numerous municipalities and facilities discharging into the Miño River and tributary streams. These include treatment plants, sewage systems, and small industrial facilities.
