Water

Tera River, a natural water body within the Duero River Basin. The river section has a single, meandering channel with an altitude of 731 metres. Average environmental flow is 2.72 m³/s. The four-year return period flow is 145 m³/s. The riverbed consists of rounded stones covered with algae and aquatic plants.

Location

Camarzana de Tera, Zamora province, Castilla-León, Spain. Access from Camarzana de Tera via the road toward Pumarejo de Tera; the bathing zone is located 2 kilometres from town on the right before crossing the river. Parking is available.

Water Quality

Monitoring data from 2003–2009 shows the bathing water was classified as compliant with guideline values and imperative values in most years. Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci concentrations were measured during 2008–2009 swimming seasons. Fecal microbial contamination episodes that could pose health risks to bathers would occur at flows below 0.075 m³/s. Wastewater discharges from upstream settlements are not considered significant pollution sources.
