Rivabella - Turchetta is a sandy beach located in Rimini, Emilia-Romagna, extending approximately 800 metres along the Adriatic coast. The beach is a high-tourism area with numerous hotels and beach establishments, offering constant lifeguard services during the bathing season. The area is characterised as a coastal plain with high stability and is subject to sand extraction.

Location

Located in Rimini, Emilia-Romagna, in the Rivabella locality. The beach is in the south-central coastal area of Rimini.

Facilities

11 beach establishments with first aid services, toilets accessible to disabled persons, hot showers, absence of architectural barriers, sports structures, and food and beverage points. Lifeguard service present during bathing season.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as Excellent (2019–2022 reference years). Escherichia Coli (90th percentile): 68 CFU/100 ml; Escherichia Coli (95th percentile): 99 CFU/100 ml. Enterococci intestinali (90th percentile): 20 CFU/100 ml; Enterococci intestinali (95th percentile): 23 CFU/100 ml. One anomalous situation occurred on 26 July 2022 when Escherichia Coli exceeded legal limits; this was classified as an anomalous situation by the European Commission and subsequent sampling on 28 July 2022 showed return to normal parameters.

Risks

Stormwater discharges (drains n. 35V and 35V_BIS) from a separate sewer network (white network) with a drainage basin of 110.3 hectares. Heavy precipitation may impact bathing water quality through these stormwater discharges. The Turchetta Depression (Fossa Turchetta) in the vicinity may give rise to eutrophication phenomena. No sustained eutrophic phenomena caused by cyanobacteria have been reported in the last four years. No phytoplankton blooms (Raphidophyceae Fibrocapsa japonica) or macroalgae blooms were recorded during 2019–2022.
