Viserba – Spina-Sacramora is a sandy beach in Rimini, Emilia-Romagna, extending for approximately 800 metres. It is a high-traffic tourist zone with numerous hotels and beach establishments. Lifeguard services are available during the bathing season. The beach is characterized by a wide sandy area of 100–110 metres, with the emerged beach and shoreline in equilibrium, though the seafloor is eroding.

Water

Coastal marine water in the central-southern coastal area of Rimini. The bathing area covers 0.912 km². The water body is influenced by the Fossa Sacramora basin with an artificial drainage area of approximately 106 hectares. Urban runoff is managed through a separate sewer system belonging to the Rimini – Val Marecchia – San Marino agglomeration, with wastewater treated at the Rimini Santa Giustina plant before discharge into the Marecchia River.

Viserba locality in the municipality of Rimini, Emilia-Romagna province. The area is served by 11 beach establishments with first aid services. Parking and facilities information is managed by the municipality.

Facilities

Eleven beach establishments with first aid services, sanitary facilities for persons with disabilities, hot showers, no architectural barriers, sports facilities, and food and beverage outlets. Lifeguard service is permanently present during the bathing season.

Bathing season monitoring data available for reference years 2015–2018. No anomalous situations were recorded during bathing seasons 2015–2018.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as Excellent for the reference years 2015–2018. Escherichia coli at 90th percentile: 21 CFU/100 ml; at 95th percentile: 25 CFU/100 ml. Intestinal enterococci at 90th percentile: 12 CFU/100 ml; at 95th percentile: 13 CFU/100 ml. The Fossa Sacramora basin in the vicinity may cause eutrophication phenomena. No cyanobacterial eutrophic events have been reported in the last four years. No phytoplankton bloom events or Raphidophyceae (Fibrocapsa japonica) blooms were recorded during 2015–2018. No macroalgae bloom events were recorded during 2015–2018.

Risks

The Fossa Sacramora basin in the vicinity may cause eutrophication. The seafloor is eroding. Macroalgae accumulation may modify the usability of the bathing zone during biomass accumulation phases. Animal access is regulated by Regional Bathing Ordinance and any Municipal Ordinances.
