Coastal bathing water located on a beach with restricted use associated with sensitive natural systems. The beach features wide golden sand with low ochre-coloured clay cliffs that are deeply grooved. Dunes with typical sand flora line the beach. The beach front extends 310 metres.

Location

Albufeira municipality. Monitoring point coordinates: Latitude 37.0783°, Longitude -8.1425° (ETRS 89). This bathing water represents a grouped classification that includes Rocha Baixinha, Rocha Baixinha Nascente, and Rocha Baixinha Poente.

Season

15 May to 15 October 2025. Monthly sampling frequency.

Water Quality

Water quality classification for 2024 complies with Decreto-Lei 135/09. Microbiological contamination may occasionally occur during heavy rainfall events causing surface run-off. No pollution sources exist in the immediate vicinity. No days of bathing advice against or prohibition due to short-term pollution occurred during the 2024 bathing season.

Risks

Potential for microbiological contamination during heavy rainfall events. Cyanobacteria proliferation is unlikely. Macroalgae proliferation is uncommon. Phytoplankton proliferation is unlikely.
