Rybník Sykovec is a pond located at an elevation of 724 meters with a surface area of 14 hectares. It has a grass beach with sandy water entry, approximately 50 meters in length. The pond receives water from small tributaries with mostly forested catchment areas. The catchment area also includes part of the municipality of Tři Studně, which contains recreational facilities.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: satisfactory condition. Microbial contamination: excellent. Phosphorus content: meets general regulatory requirements except for occasional samples; does not consistently meet requirements for bathing water catchments. Algae occurrence: mild in the last three years; previously elevated above limit in August 2007. Transparency: occasionally fell below limit before 2010. No short-term contamination recorded.

Risks

Algae bloom risk present historically with occasional strong occurrence. Diffuse pollution sources include the municipality of Tři Studně with medium to high risk depending on wastewater management, recreational facilities with medium to high risk, and internal loading from recreation and fish stocking with medium risk depending on fish population status and sediment condition.
