S. Limato is a sandy bathing water located in Sessa Aurunca, Caserta Province, in the Campania region. The beach is characterized by sandy shoreline with structures and channel mouths (Rio Trimoletto and Canale D'Auria/San Limato) along the beach. Intense urbanization runs parallel to the coast. The bathing water has been classified as Excellent for the monitoring years 2020–2023.

Location

Sessa Aurunca, Caserta Province, Campania region. The bathing area is identified by monitoring point coordinates at approximately 41.16°N, 13.84°E.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2020–2021–2022–2023). Monitoring conducted under Legislative Decree 116/2008. The bathing water is affected by inputs from Rio Trimoletto and Canale D'Auria, which in its final stretch also receives water from Rio S. Limato.

Risks

The bathing area is affected by channel mouths of Rio Trimoletto and Canale D'Auria/San Limato. Wastewater from sewerage networks serving Baia Felice is conveyed via a pumping station to a treatment plant in Doccia, Cellole. Rio Trimoletto receives irrigation water and has occasionally received livestock effluent discharges. Canale D'Auria receives untreated urban wastewater from Sessa Aurunca's sewerage networks and some industrial discharges from the industrial zone of Sessa Aurunca, which are equipped with treatment systems.
