Sabinensee Willmine

Germany Lake 1 - Excellent

Sabinensee is a natural lake located 17 km east of Templin in the Uckermark Lakes Nature Park, formed during the last ice age. Its half-moon-shaped basin covers 52 hectares with a maximum depth of 6.6 metres. The lake is fed by groundwater and receives inflows from drained agricultural fields and marshland drainage systems. The bathing spot Willmine is situated on the northern shore and is subject to regular microbiological monitoring under Brandenburg bathing water regulations.

Water

Natural lake with surface area of 52.17 hectares. Maximum depth 6.6 metres, mean depth 3.2 metres. Groundwater-fed with inflows from drained agricultural fields. Water temperature ranges from 10.7 to 27.7°C (mean 20.7°C). Transparency at bathing spot ranges from 0.8 to 2.6 metres (mean 1.7 metres). pH values range from 7.2 to 8.15 (mean 7.53). Freshwater lake (salinity <0.5‰).

Location

Located 17 km east of Templin in the Uckermark Lakes Nature Park. The bathing spot Willmine is on the northern shore. Coordinates: 3417759 (East), 5886205 (North). Beach length: 27 metres.

Facilities

Volleyball available. No nudist designation (kein FKK).

Season

Monitored during bathing season through fortnightly sampling by the health authority. No short-term pollution events expected.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent for periods 2016-2019, 2017-2020, 2018-2021, 2019-2022, 2020-2023, and 2021-2024. Escherichia coli 95-percentile: 36 CFU/100ml (2020-2023 and 2021-2024). Intestinal enterococci 95-percentile: 30 CFU/100ml (2020-2023), 91 CFU/100ml (2021-2024). No individual value exceedances of microbiological parameters recorded. No cyanobacterial blooms observed during bathing seasons.
