Saint-Efflam is a bathing beach located in the commune of Plestin-les-Grèves in the Lannion-Trégor Communauté. The beach is situated on a coastline with rocky and sandy features and is subject to monitoring for bathing water quality. The beach's watershed covers 619 hectares and is characterized by high hydrographic density, with agriculture as the dominant land use in the surrounding territory.

Water Quality

Water quality has been classified according to both the 1976 and 2006 EU Bathing Water Directives. Bacteriological monitoring by the regional health authority (ARS) was conducted between 2012 and 2017, measuring E. coli and enterococci concentrations. The nearby recreational shellfish harvesting zone of Beg Douar experienced periodic closures due to water quality concerns. Ulva seaweed deposits were observed in the area between 2010 and 2015.

Risks

Potential pollution sources include wastewater collection and treatment systems, stormwater drainage systems, agricultural activity on the watershed, and a marine racecourse facility. The Quinquis watercourse carries bacterial contamination from agricultural activities in its watershed. Non-compliant individual wastewater treatment systems (ANC) exist on the bathing water's watershed.
