Sandhammaren

Sweden Coastal 1 - Excellent

Sandhammaren is a long sandy beach located at the southeastern corner of Skåne, featuring white fine-grained sand. The bathing area is shallow with lively water currents. The beach is approximately 3 kilometers long and is considered one of Sweden's finest bathing beaches. West of the bathing area, within Hagestads nature reserve, dogs on leash are welcome on the beach.

Water

Sandy beach approximately 3 kilometers long. The bathing water falls within the water bodies of East Coast coastal water and Sandhammaren - Simrishamn. The beach is shallow with variable currents depending on wind direction.

Location

Southeastern corner of Skåne. Parking is available near the beach but often becomes full due to the beach's popularity. A kiosk offering food is located at the site.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (Utmärkt kvalitet). Rated Excellent in 2025, 2024, 2023, and 2022. Cottages with individual sewage systems are located nearby.

Risks

During onshore winds, water currents can become very strong with outgoing currents. During offshore winds, surface water movement can occasionally cause strong currents.
