Water Quality

Water quality classification for 2024 complies with Decreto-Lei nº 135/09 of June 3rd, amended and republished by Decreto-Lei nº 113/2012 of May 23rd. The bathing water is not subject to any negative influence regarding its microbiological quality. No pollution episodes are expected to affect bathing water quality. Short-term pollution risk is unlikely or low. No days of bathing prohibition or advice against bathing due to short-term pollution events occurred during the 2024 bathing season.

Potential for proliferation of cyanobacterial blooms is likely. Potential for proliferation of phytoplankton is likely. Potential for proliferation of macroalgae is unlikely. A visual inspection and laboratory monitoring system for chlorophyll-a has been adopted with communication to the Alentejo Regional Health Delegate.
