Senecký Rybník

Czechia River 1 - Excellent

Senecký rybník is a bathing pond located in the Plzeň region with a surface area of 7.4 hectares. The water body has sandy beaches transitioning into pine forest, with sandy bottom that becomes muddy at greater depths. The pond is non-flowing with a long retention time, typically about one year in summer. It is fed by two minor tributaries and recharged with water from upstream ponds in the system after fishing season.

Water

Pond (rybník) with a surface area of 7.4 hectares, elevation 326 metres above sea level, sandy bottom becoming muddy at greater depth. Beach length approximately 200 metres. Basic hydrological flow rate Q = 0.018 m³/s, specific runoff q = 1.75 l/s·km². The catchment area covers 10.41 km² and is predominantly forested without point pollution sources.

Plzeň region, Plzeň Bílá Hora. Managed by the Public Property Office of Plzeň (SVSMP), located at Velkého rybníka 24, Plzeň Bílá Hora.

Water Quality

Excellent water quality with satisfactory status as of 2021–2024. Microbiological parameters comply with Regulation 238/2011. Phosphorus levels during growing season 2020–2024 averaged 0.012–0.021 mg·l⁻¹, extremely low and meeting Regulation 401/2015 requirements. Chlorophyll-a concentrations after water level restoration ranged between 2.8 and 8.0 µg·l⁻¹. Water quality is long-term stable without developmental trends; monitoring results indicate no threat to water quality.

Risks

After heavy rainfall, possible local mild deterioration of bacteriological parameters and washout of pine needles and cones (visible pollution), duration approximately one day. Risk of water shortage during series of dry years with subsequent water level decline, as occurred in 2018–2021.
