Coastal bathing water located on a non-urban beach with intensive use. Golden sand beach with high and eroded cliffs, 50 metres long. The beach is associated with a fishing harbour and is used partially by small boats and fishing gears. Tidal range is 3.4 metres with mean wave height of 0.5 metres. Predominant wind direction is northwest.

Water Quality

Water quality classification of 2024 complies with Decreto-Lei 135/09 of 3 June. No days of bathing prohibition or advisory due to short-term pollution events during bathing season 2024. Short-term pollution is scarce but microbiological contamination may occur due to sporadic sanitation infrastructure failures or intensive rainfall causing surface run-off and overflows.

Risks

Potential microbiological pollution sources from sanitation infrastructures. Cyanobacteria proliferation is unlikely. Macroalgae proliferation is uncommon. Phytoplankton proliferation is unlikely.
