Water

Coastal marine water body in the Gulf of Morbihan region. Tidal currents are significant 3 hours before and after high tide at Port Navalo. The area experiences notable oceanic and climatic characteristics typical of the Breton coast.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as Type 1, indicating no proven risk of pollution. The bathing water meets at least sufficient quality standards under EU Directive 2006/7/CE. Bacteriological monitoring has been conducted over nine years with results demonstrating consistent compliance. Shellfish production zones are classified and monitored by IFREMER. Macroalgae blooms are monitored by CEVA.

Risks

Monitoring includes surveillance for opportunistic macroalgae blooms and assessment of shellfish harvesting areas for recreational foot-gathering. Potential pollution sources from river discharge, collective sewerage, non-collective sanitation, urban runoff, and point-source pollution have been inventoried and evaluated.
