Water Quality

Water quality classification according to Decreto-Lei 135/09 (amended by Decreto-Lei nº 113/2012). No history of recurrent short-term pollution episodes. Zero days of bathing prohibition due to short-term pollution events in bathing season 2024.

Risks

Potential microbiological pollution sources include diffuse fecal contamination from surrounding urban activities, solid waste from beach activities, and high number of users. Potential for cyanobacteria proliferation is most likely. Potential for phytoplankton proliferation is most likely. Potential for macroalgae proliferation is unlikely.
