Location

Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez, in the Pays de Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie community. The responsible body is located at ZAE du Soleil Levant, CS 63669, Givrand, 85806 Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie.

Water Quality

Water quality is assessed according to Directive 2006/7/CE standards for bathing waters. Monitoring includes bacteriological analysis and phytoplankton proliferation potential. The site is also subject to shellfish water quality monitoring. Identified pollution sources include collective sewage systems, rainwater runoff, unauthorized anthropogenic discharges from campervans, inter-human contamination, domestic and wild fauna.

Potential bacteriological contamination from multiple sources including collective sewage overflows, stormwater discharges, unauthorised discharges from campervans, inter-human transmission, domestic animals, and wild birds. Potential for macro-algae and phytoplankton proliferation has been assessed.
