Three beaches in the southern part of Jammerbugt: Ejstrup Strand, Tranum Strand, and Slette Strand. Each features a broad sandy beach with widths varying between 80 and 100 metres. The seabed consists of sand. Local accumulations of small stones, shells, and seaweed may occur at the water's edge. The sea typically has breaking waves and strong undertow caused by relatively deep water close to shore.

Water

Marine water in Jammerbugt. Salinity: 30–35 o/oo. Water temperature varies between approximately 12 °C and 20 °C during the bathing season. The sea exhibits breaking waves and strong undertow due to relatively deep water close to shore.

Location

Ejstrup Strand: reached via Sandmosevej, parking for approximately 20 cars by the road or on the beach. Tranum Strand: reached via Strandvejen, parking for approximately 40 cars, vehicles not permitted on beach. Slette Strand: reached via Slette Strandvej, car-free beach, parking for approximately 30 cars at the access point.

Water Quality

Preliminary classification based on E. coli data from 2007–2017 and enterococci data from 2007–2017 shows excellent water quality at all three beaches. Bacterial concentrations are generally very low and far below the threshold for satisfactory bathing water quality. Monitoring results over the past 5 years show stable conditions.

Risks

Strong undertow caused by relatively deep water close to shore. Risk of large quantities of microscopic algae blooms during bathing season, particularly Phaeocystis (April–July) and Noctiluca (July–August). Seaweed (tang) can occur in smaller quantities. Fire coral (brandmænd) risk is greatest during summer and autumn, particularly during offshore winds. Oil spills from ships are a recurring phenomenon on the west coast of Jutland, though health risk is considered low. Blue-green algae do not occur due to high salinity.
