Coastal waters. The water body is called Zambrone - Ricadi. The bathing area extends 1,076 square metres with a sandy-pebbly beach and articulated coastal geomorphology.

Location

Tropea, Calabria, Vibo Valentia province. The beach is situated in front of the town centre of Tropea.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is excellent. The main hydrographic basin is Fosso Piperno. Wastewater treatment is provided by the Tropea treatment plant. No specific active measures are currently in place.

Risks

Accidental depurifier failures and overflow from the Tropea treatment plant at the mouth of Fosso Piperno have been identified as potential pollution sources. Cyanobacterial proliferation has not occurred in the last four years. Macroalgae and phytoplankton proliferation has not been verified.
