Coastal water body. The bathing area covers an extension of 1.297 square kilometres. The primary watercourse influencing the area is the Fiuzzi stream.

Location

San Nicola Arcella, province of Cosenza, Calabria. The beach is situated along the Tortora-Scalea water body.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. The bathing water is affected by the mouth of the Fiuzzi stream as a source of pollution. Short-duration pollution events occur due to runoff from agricultural land use.

Risks

The Fiuzzi stream mouth introduces agricultural runoff into the bathing area. No cyanobacterial or algal blooms have been recorded in the preceding four years.
