Strandbad Spessartblick is a bathing lake located east of Frankfurt and Hanau on the border between Hesse and Bavaria, near Großkrotzenburg. The lake formed from former brown coal mining and covers 21.2 hectares with a maximum depth of 18.7 metres and average depth of 9.8 metres. A bathing beach established in 1936 provides the only access to the lake via a 10-hectare meadow. The sandy beach is approximately 300 metres long, with the remainder of the shore lined with trees. The lake typically receives around 600 swimmers and has sufficient space due to the presence of many other bathing lakes in the area.
