Sandy beach area with an outlet from the Ausente Canal. The bathing water receives flows from the Ausente Canal via the Macchine Vecchie pumping station (Idrovora Consorzio Aurunco di Bonifica).

Location

Sessa Aurunca, Caserta Province, Campania region. The monitoring point is located at coordinates 41.202428°N, 13.790870°E near the Ausente Canal outlet and the Macchine Vecchie pumping station.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2020–2023). Contamination events occur during rainfall and from discharge of wastewater from civil dwellings in the Pantano locality, the Cellole wastewater treatment plant (activated sludge system), and the Pietre Bianche tourist village treatment facility, conveyed through the Ariella Canal.

Risks

Contamination linked to the confluence of waters from the Ausente Canal and the Macchine Vecchie pumping station. Contamination events occur during rainfall and from wastewater discharge from civil dwellings and treatment facilities.
