The Haar bathing area is located at Sumter See, a natural inland lake formed in the Elbe's ancient glacial valley. The public beach is in its natural state, surrounded by agricultural land and the Niedersächsische Elbtalaue Biosphere Reserve. The bathing area is situated directly along the Landstraße 232.
