Lake Kyrösjärvi. Surface area: 9,621 hectares. Maximum depth: 48 metres. Volume: 1,019,826,000 cubic metres. Catchment area: 2,626.83 square kilometres. Mean residence time: 569 days. Water level during summer season varies between 82.40 and 83.70 metres above normal level. Sandy bottom.

Located in Ikaalinen, Finland at Toivolansaarentie 3, 39500 Ikaalinen. Coordinates: 23.0443, 61.7797. The bathing area is situated within a camping area with facilities including sauna, boat rental, toilets, playground, café, mini-golf, and beach volleyball court.

Season

Official bathing season: 15 June to 31 August. Water quality monitoring consists of four samples: one sample approximately two weeks before the season begins and three samples at approximately one-month intervals during the season.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. E. coli limit for inland bathing waters: <1000 pmy/100ml. Intestinal enterococci limit: <400 pmy/100ml. Results from 2020–2023 show all measurements well below regulatory thresholds. Lake water is brown humic water with strong humic character. Slightly elevated fertility level with occasional phosphorus concentrations near the eutrophic threshold. No exceptional sensory observations reported. No management actions have been required.

Risks

Cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms occur annually. Long calm and warm periods increase the likelihood of cyanobacteria occurrence. Macrophyte and phytoplankton proliferation is possible annually depending on weather conditions and advancing summer season. Wastewater pipeline located 100 metres away with flow direction away from the beach.
