Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2017–2020). The potential point source of pollution is the Santa Cesarea Terme wastewater treatment plant, which discharges treated urban effluent via a submarine outfall. No short-term pollution events have been recorded in the past four years. The area is not characterized by algal or cyanobacterial blooms and no cases of potentially toxic algal strains have been detected.
