Torre Squillace is a rocky coastal bathing area located in the municipality of Nardò in the province of Lecce, Puglia. The water body is classified as an excellent bathing water based on quality assessments from 2017 to 2020. The area is part of the southern limit of the Porto Cesareo-Torre Colimena Marine Protected Area.

Location

Nardò municipality, province of Lecce, Puglia region. The bathing area extends 2.045 km and is situated within the Torre Lapillo hydrographic basin.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2017–2020). The potential source of point pollution is the Porto Cesareo wastewater treatment plant, which discharges treated urban and productive effluent into the sea via a submarine pipeline. No short-duration pollution events were recorded over the preceding four years.

Risks

No cyanobacterial or algal blooms detected. No potentially toxic algal strains identified in the preceding four years. No anomalous situations verified.
