Toulindac is a bathing beach located in the commune of Baden in the Morbihan department of Brittany, France. The beach is situated in the Golfe du Morbihan and includes a sailing school. The area experiences Atlantic Ocean tidal currents and is subject to monitoring for bacteriological water quality. The beach serves recreational bathing uses alongside maritime activities such as oyster farming in nearby zones.

Water

Water Quality

Water quality is monitored by ARS (Regional Health Agency) for bacteriological parameters. Monitoring data covers from 2010 to 2014. Water quality is evaluated against 1976 and 2006 European directives. Beach closures have occurred based on bacteriological results. Shellfish production zones adjacent to the bathing area are monitored for bacteriological quality.

Risks

Potential pollution sources identified include: stormwater and wastewater network discharges, treated water discharge from Bourgerel wastewater treatment plant, overflow events from wastewater pumping stations, diffuse agricultural pollution, non-collective sanitation systems, domestic animal access to the beach, oyster farming activities, and bird congregation zones. Macro-algae proliferation and phytoplankton growth potential have been assessed.
