Port Miquel is a bathing beach located on the Île aux Moines in the Gulf of Morbihan, Brittany. The beach is situated in a coastal area with geomorphological and oceanographic characteristics typical of the region. The vulnerability profile document assesses the beach's exposure to potential pollution sources and water quality based on bacteriological monitoring and environmental studies conducted between 2011 and 2014.

Water Quality

Water quality monitored from 2011 to 2014 by the regional health authority (ARS 56). Bacteriological quality assessed through sampling. The area is classified as zone A for non-burrowing bivalves and zone B for burrowing bivalves under shellfish farming regulations. Chlorophyll a concentration and toxic algal flora monitored by Ifremer; monitoring point at Creizic used for phytoplankton surveillance.

Risks

Potential contamination sources identified including collective sewerage system discharges, stormwater network outflows, and non-collective sanitation systems. Stormwater discharge from the primary outfall represents a flux of concern. High tidal events and pump station discharges noted as operational factors.
