Traigh nam Faoghailean sits on South Uist, accessed via a marked walking route from the RSPB reserve, where a visitor centre with exhibits on local flora and fauna and public WC facilities are located near a gravel car park with space for around five vehicles. The area borders machair grassland and dunes, and is used for birdwatching, with species such as short-eared owls, hen harriers, lapwings, geese and various waders recorded nearby. Dunes Larder is within walking distance of the site for food and refreshments.
