Tràigh-stir, also known as Hosta Beach, sits on North Uist facing the Atlantic, forming a half-moon bay with Lewisian gneiss banded rock formations at one end. Access is via a rough track off the A865, opposite the North Uist Agricultural Showground, leading to a car park on the machair with a short walk to the sand. The beach has white sand and is used for surfing, though rip tides occur in the water.
