Varolato is a sandy bathing beach in the municipality of Capaccio, in the province of Salerno, Campania. The area features a low coast with extensive pine forests and agricultural zones inland. The beach has tourist facilities and structures along the shoreline. The Sele River mouth is located approximately 1 km north of this bathing area.

Risks

Possible pollution sources identified: Sele River mouth on the western side; potential breaks in the submarine outfall pipe from the wastewater treatment plant at Gromola; sewage lift station (6-inch) at Varolato in proximity to the sampling point.
