Venice Lido - Bassanello is a bathing water located along the narrow island that separates the northern portion of the Venice Lagoon from the Adriatic Sea. The bathing area is an artificial breakwater parallel to the coast, oriented along the northeast-southwest direction. A submarine cliff runs parallel to the coast approximately 100 metres from the water's edge. The beach width ranges from 0 to 10 metres.

Wastewater treatment from the Venice-Lido treatment plant (design capacity 60,000 inhabitant equivalents) discharges directly to the sea approximately 4 kilometres from the coast.
