Water quality classification: Excellent. The area is monitored by Regione Calabria, the municipality, ASP, emergency services (118), and Arpacal.

Risks

Potential pollution source identified at the mouth of Torrente Vena. Short-term pollution events have been characterised as accidental treatment plant failures and overflow from the Bova Marina wastewater treatment plant. No anomalous situations or algal proliferation events have been verified in the past four years.
