VN Budišov nad Budišovkou is a water reservoir located in a pleasant environment near the town of Budišov nad Budišovkou, close to an autocamping site. The water body has experienced variable water quality during recreational periods historically, with recurring cyanobacteria blooms that prompted swimming bans in 2003 and 2005. Water quality has improved over the past approximately ten years, with water generally rated as suitable for swimming except in 2012. Microbiological indicators show excellent water quality based on intestinal enterococci and Escherichia coli measurements from 2019–2022, though water transparency values frequently fall below the acceptable limit of 1 metre.

Water

Reservoir with a surface area of 1.16 hectares and elevation of 500 metres above sea level. The catchment area measures 6.01 km². Long-term average annual flow to the dam is 0.066 cubic metres per second. The beach length is approximately 100 metres. The shore is grassy with a reinforced panel entry point into the water, and the bottom is muddy.

Location

Budišov nad Budišovkou, Halaškovo nám. 2, 747 87 Budišov nad Budišovkou. The bathing area is located in a park near an autocamping facility. Daily visitor attendance is less than 100 persons per day.

Chemical toilets, waste collection, maintenance of grass areas, water slide. Social facilities, refreshments, and possibly a children's playground in the nearby autocamping site.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is excellent based on microbiological indicators (intestinal enterococci and Escherichia coli) evaluated over 2019–2022. An episodic elevation in E. coli and intestinal enterococci was detected in early July 2020, likely resulting from runoff from surrounding fields following intensive rainfall, and the water was temporarily marked as unsuitable for bathing. Phosphorus concentrations historically remained below the limit value under Government Regulation No. 401/2015 until 2012, with a trend towards increase in recent measured years. Cyanobacteria blooms were frequently recorded in earlier periods; however, over the past approximately ten years, significant cyanobacteria development was recorded only in 2012. Water transparency values generally fall below the acceptable value of 1 metre. Overall monitoring assessment: unfavourable condition. No significant point or diffuse pollution sources are present in the influence area.
