Kacabaja is a reservoir bathing water located at 360 meters elevation in the Moravian-Silesian region. The reservoir has a surface area of 2.8 hectares and a long-term average annual flow rate of 0.041 m³/s. Water quality has been historically very good, though elevated cyanobacterial cell concentrations were recorded in recent recreational seasons (2024 and 2025). In 2025, the presence of cercariae was confirmed in the reservoir.

Water

Reservoir (water dam) with a surface area of 2.8 hectares. The catchment area measures 3.13 km². The shoreline is a three-sided grassy beach approximately 300 meters long. The shore is grassy and the bottom is partially concrete or muddy.

Location

The bathing beach is located in the village of Hodslavice, address Hodslavice 211, postal code 742 71. An asphalt car park is available beneath the dam. Parking is charged during the season. Daily visitor numbers are estimated at tens of people.

Facilities

Seasonal refreshment stand with toilets, showers, and mobile changing rooms. Clay court for volleyball and mini-football. No lifeguard or medical personnel present.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: good quality based on microbiological indicators (intestinal enterococci and Escherichia coli) for the period 2022–2025. Phosphorus concentrations have historically remained slightly above the limit value according to Government Regulation No. 401/2015. Since 2012, this parameter has not been monitored. Overall monitoring assessment: satisfactory condition.

Risks

Elevated concentrations of cyanobacterial cells were recorded in recreational seasons 2008 (transiently in July), 2024, and 2025 (during summer months). Cercariae were confirmed in the reservoir in 2025. Diffuse pollution source identified: erosion risk on land near the reservoir poses a high pollution risk for phosphorus input and medium risk for microbial pollution.
