Czechia River 1 - Excellent

VN Větřkovice is a reservoir located in the Moravian-Silesian Region with a surface area of 18.13 hectares and elevation of 332 metres. The bathing beach is approximately 1,000 metres long with a dual-sided configuration. Water quality has been consistently very good and suitable for bathing, with excellent microbiological quality based on monitoring from 2019 to 2022.

Water

Reservoir with a surface area of 18.13 hectares and a catchment area of 2.38 km². The beach has a sandy to muddy bottom with partially grass-covered and gravel shoreline. Long-term average annual flow to the dam profile is 0.032 m³/s.

Location

City of Kopřivnice, Czech Republic. Parking and facilities are located below the dam, including a restaurant, food shop, public campsite, outdoor seating, public toilets, and a playground.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: excellent based on microbiological indicators (intestinal enterococci and Escherichia coli) from 2019–2022 analysis. Total phosphorus concentrations were at the limit value according to Regulation 401/2015. Water transparency consistently exceeds the acceptable limit for bathing water (>1 metre), except in 2008 when cyanobacteria blooms created a vegetation haze. Overall assessment: satisfactory condition.

Risks

High concentrations of cyanobacteria cells occurred only in 2008, resulting in a water quality warning. No short-term pollution identified. Possible internal nutrient loading from recreational activities and fish farming management.
