Ziestsee Bindow

Germany Lake 1 - Excellent

Ziestsee is a lake situated approximately 9 km southeast of Königs Wusterhausen in the Dahme Lake District, a landscape formed by glaciers and meltwater during the last ice age. The oval-shaped basin has a surface area of 55.6 hectares and a maximum depth of 9.3 meters, with the deepest point in the northern part. The lake is fed by groundwater and drains into the River Dahme, approximately 500 meters away. Extensive reed beds line the shores, providing habitat for various water birds. The bathing area has been significantly improved through wastewater treatment improvements and now exhibits good water quality with visibility depths between 1 and 2 meters in summer.
