Panorama is a bathing zone located at the Golden Sands resort complex on Bulgaria's northeastern Black Sea coast. The beach features coarse-grained sand and is a small beach strip. The coastal area is heavily urbanized as part of the Golden Sands resort infrastructure, with nearby villa zones and the Golden Sands Natural Park. The beach is situated in a region with a modified shoreline shaped by previous coastal protection measures.

Black Sea. The bathing water body ID is BG3310610135003001 and belongs to the Black Sea Basin.

Location

Varna region, northeastern Bulgaria, within the Golden Sands (Zlatni Pjasatsi) resort complex on the Black Sea coast. The beach is accessible by personal and public transport. Coordinates: N 43°18'12'', E 28°03'12''.

Facilities

One lifeguard post, sanitary facilities, showers, and access for disabled persons. Waste bins provided. Dogs are prohibited on the beach.

Water Quality

Water quality classification shows excellent quality in 2021. Historical monitoring (2007-2021) shows variable results: poor in 2007, 2011, 2012, and 2014; good or sufficient in 2008-2010, 2013; sufficient in 2015; good in 2016-2020; excellent in 2021. A wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) serving the resort complex treats domestic, rainwater, and pool wastewater. The treatment plant has mechanical and biological treatment facilities but lacks capability for nitrogen and phosphorus removal. A deep-water outfall was constructed approximately 2 km offshore to prevent contamination near the bathing zone.

Risks

Potential for short-term contamination from the nearby wastewater treatment plant. Risk of failure or compromise of the deep-water outfall due to accidents or adverse meteorological conditions. Station overloading during peak summer season when sewage inflow intensity coefficient reaches 1:8, potentially leading to discharge of untreated wastewater. Water stagnation possible due to a large breakwater combined with low wind conditions and high temperatures during August.
