The bathing water is located on a rocky beach in the Torricella contrada area near Vasto, Abruzzo. The site is situated along a coast characterized by cliffs in an area without civil or industrial settlements. The water body is classified as Excellent. The beach is approximately 5 meters wide with minimal usage of about 5 bathers per day.

Coastal water body with rocky beach. Beach width approximately 5 meters. Located in a water body designated as IT_12_RICCIO_VASTO.

Location

Vasto, Chieti Province, Abruzzo Region, Italy. The bathing point is situated on a rocky beach in the Torricella contrada area along the coast near cliffs.

Facilities

Waste collection service (rsu) is active near the sampling point. Animal access to beaches during summer season is regulated by ordinance no. 37 dated 20/05/2022.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. The area has no wastewater collection or treatment network. Surrounding dwellings are equipped with septic tanks (pozzi neri). No wastewater discharges are present in the area.

Risks

Potential pollution events may result from septic tank dispersal. Ostreopsis ovata algal bloom occurred in August and September 2023. Previous years showed some dinoflagellate blooms with scarce or no toxic species present. Cyanobacterial blooms have not been observed in the marine waters of the Abruzzo area.
