This bathing water area is located 1.4 km south of the Fiumi Uniti river mouth along the Ravenna coast in the Emilia-Romagna region. The beach extends from 600 m south of the Fiumi Uniti mouth to 250 m north of the Bevano river mouth. The shoreline features beaches, dunes, and sandy areas interspersed with campgrounds and light tourist facilities, backed by coniferous woodland and sparse residential areas transitioning to agricultural land. The beach is 50 m wide and experiences erosion, maintained through periodic sand replenishment works. Swimmers should be alert to seabed irregularities and the presence of currents.

Coastal marine water in a flat alluvial area with high stability. The bathing area extends over 0.842 km with coordinates centred at 12.3219°E, 44.3848°N.

Location

Ravenna, Emilia-Romagna region, Italy. The bathing area is situated 1.4 km south of the Fiumi Uniti river mouth. There are 4 beach establishments and access via 2 campgrounds in the area.

Facilities

Four beach establishments are present in the area. Two campgrounds provide beach access, one immediately behind the dune and one further inland with a beach access path.

Season

Monitoring conducted during bathing seasons from 2015 to 2018.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (reference years 2015–2018). Escherichia coli at 90th percentile: 14 CFU/100 ml; at 95th percentile: 15 CFU/100 ml. Intestinal enterococci at 90th percentile: 10 CFU/100 ml; at 95th percentile: 10 CFU/100 ml. No direct sewage discharges or watercourse outfalls present in the bathing water area.

Risks

Seabed irregularities and currents are present. Macroalgae blooms of the genus Ulva occurred in July–August 2018 in the northern section of the coast, affecting beach usability during biomass accumulation phases. No phytoplankton blooms or cyanobacterial events have been recorded.
