The area faces the inhabited centre of Badolato.

Water quality classification: Excellent. The body of water is named Santa Caterina dello Jonio - San Sostene. No specific active measures are currently in place for wastewater treatment.

Risks

Short-duration pollution events from surface runoff (dilavamento) originating from urban areas have been identified. The Fosso Tiratore I stream mouth is identified as a potential pollution source. No cyanobacterial proliferation events have occurred in the previous four years. No macroalgae, phytoplankton, or potentially toxic species proliferation has been recorded in the previous four years.
