A sandy beach with moderate slope in the submerged area and flat terrain toward the shore, located 100 metres to the right of the Torrente Re estuary. The beach is classified as excellent water quality. Seasonal summer facilities include a refreshment point and first aid assistance.

Water

Coastal marine water in the Canale di Sicilia. The bathing area extends 0.085 square kilometres. The beach has a medium slope in the submerged zone with flat terrain toward the shore.

Location

Porto Empedocle, Agrigento Province, Sicily. The bathing water is situated in the Canale di Sicilia coastal tract number 14. Parking and access information are available from the Porto Empedocle municipality.

Facilities

Seasonal summer refreshment point and first aid assistance service. Animals are not prohibited by signage.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is excellent. The bathing area is affected by discharges of untreated wastewater and overflow from a sewage pumping station. Wastewater treatment infrastructure exists through a collection network, but treatment plants do not comply with EU Directive 91/271/EC standards.

Risks

Discharge of untreated wastewater from private sources into the Torrente Re stream. Sewage pumping station with risk of accidental malfunctions and overflow. Urban stormwater and untreated wastewater discharge events. No cyanobacteria proliferation potential identified. No macroalgae, phytoplankton, or toxic species proliferation events recorded in the previous four years.
