A bathing water area located 100 metres north of the Feltrino River mouth in San Vito Chietino, Abruzzo. The beach is of pebbly nature and approximately 25 metres wide. The water is classified as coastal with medium stability. The area is subject to modest erosive activity with breakwater structures positioned approximately 180 metres from the shoreline.

Coastal water body with area of 0.130 square kilometres. The beach is pebbly in nature and approximately 25 metres wide. The water body is fed by the Torrente Feltrino.

Location

Beach establishment (stabilimento balneare) facilities are available. Animal access is not permitted.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is SCARSA (poor). Wastewater treatment is handled by a sewage system that collects effluent and conveys it to a municipal treatment plant approximately 1.5 kilometres from the coast, which discharges into the Feltrino River. The Feltrino River mouth, located in the immediate vicinity, is of poor quality and conveys effluent from the city of Lanciano. No direct marine discharges of treated wastewater or offshore discharges are present.

Risks

The Feltrino River mouth in the immediate vicinity is of poor quality and conveys wastewater from Lanciano. No cyanobacterial blooms have been observed in the marine waters off the Abruzzo coast. Macroalgae, phytoplankton, and potentially toxic species proliferation events have not been recorded; however, scarce phytoplankton blooms occur during the summer period, and dinoflagellate blooms with low or absent toxic species have been recorded in previous years.
