A predominantly pebbly beach located 100 metres north of the mouth of the Osento River in Torino di Sangro, Abruzzo. The beach has an average width of 12 metres and is bordered by bathing establishments. The area is served by the Lungomare Le Morge coastal road and features a maritime pine grove. The water quality is classified as EXCELLENT.

Water

Coastal water body at the mouth of the Osento River. Area extent: 0.030 km². The beach is predominantly sandy at the river mouth (north side), with pebbly character elsewhere.

Location

Torino di Sangro, Chieti province, Abruzzo region. Located along the Lungomare Le Morge coastal road. Parking available at municipal car parks (paid), private parking, and a camper area. A seasonal bathing restriction applies to a portion of the beach towards the Osento River.

Facilities

Red Cross first aid and assistance point in agreement with the local health authority. Tourist information point. Bathing establishments. Public toilets. Beach amenities including bars and restaurants. Camper area. Paid municipal parking and private parking. Maritime pine grove. Lifeguard presence managed through annual coastal bathing ordinance issued by Abruzzo Region. Animal access regulated by annual ordinance.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: EXCELLENT. The area is served by a municipal sewage network with wastewater conveyed to the Le Morge treatment plant located near the Osento River. No particular measures or specific monitoring are currently in place.

Risks

The zone is located at the mouth of the Osento River. Short-duration pollution events are under study with appropriate modelling approaches. Occasional algal blooms (dinoflagellates) occur in summer months with scarce or absent toxic species.
