A sandy beach located 100 meters to the left of the Rio Favara outlet in Ispica, Sicily. The beach features a low, sandy seabed with a gradual slope and dune formations backed by dense vegetation. Breakwater structures are present to counteract erosion phenomena. The beach is easily accessible and primarily used by local residents. The bathing area extends 1.15 kilometers along the coast.

Coastal seabed in the Sicily Channel. The beach has a width of 35 meters and a low, sandy seabed that slopes gradually. The bathing area covers 1.15 kilometers of coastline.

Location

Ispica, Sicily, Italy. The beach is situated 100 meters to the left of the Rio Favara river outlet. The area is part of the coastal tract 17 of the Sicily Channel (Canale di Sicilia). Contact authority: Comune di Ispica (telephone 0932 701111).

Facilities

The coastline includes both free and equipped sections. Dogs are permitted; no municipal ordinances or signs prohibit animal access. The area is used exclusively for bathing.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. The area is subject to treated wastewater discharge from treatment plants serving Ispica, Modica, Pozzallo, and Scicli municipalities. Some wastewater is discharged into streams flowing to the sea, while other treated effluent is discharged via submarine pipelines.

Risks

Stormwater discharge and overflow structures are present. Heavy precipitation can cause conveyance overflows into the bathing water. No cyanobacteria or macroalgae proliferation events were recorded in the preceding four years.
