Marispica is a sandy beach in Ispica, Sicily, with a low, gently sloping sandy seabed and dune formations behind the shoreline. The beach is easily accessible and extends for 1.75 kilometers. Part of the beach is used by guests of a residential village, while other sections remain free and equipped. The area experiences a dry subtropical climate with high summer temperatures and modest winter rainfall.

Marine water body (Canale di Sicilia - Sicily Channel). The beach is 40 meters wide with a low, sandy, gently sloping seabed. The bathing area extends 1.75 kilometers along the coast.

Location

Ispica, Sicily, in the province of Ragusa. The beach area has coordinates Y = 36.7208, X = 14.9125. The Capitaneria di Porto (Port Authority) of Pozzallo is the nearest authority office.

Facilities

Lifeguards present. Toilets available. Free and equipped coastal sections. The area has easy access. No municipal ordinances or signage prohibit animal access.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. The bathing water is subject to potential pollution from treated wastewater discharged by treatment plants serving Ispica, Modica, Pozzallo, and Scicli, with some discharge through submarine pipelines and surface runoff channels.

Risks

Heavy rainfall can cause overflow of treated wastewater and surface runoff into the bathing water. No cyanobacterial proliferation events or macroalgae/phytoplankton proliferation were documented in the preceding four years.
