Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2017-2020). No cyanobacteria or algal blooms have been detected. The potential source of pollution is the Nardò wastewater treatment plant at the northern boundary, with discharges from civil and productive settlements released to sea.

Treated wastewater discharges from the Nardò treatment plant at the northern limit. No short-duration pollution events recorded in the last four years. No toxic algal blooms or macroalgae proliferation detected.
